Google speaketh

God has spoken:
"(Google Employee) Hi Everybody,

This looks like it's closely related to the issue going on at the thread I've linked below. We realize there's something going on here, and we initially pushed out a fix a while back. There was a little hiccup with the fix, which is probably why the results in Fresno may have gone back up and then back down as addoctane mentioned above.

The team is working on this issue. Stay tuned to the thread below where I will post an update as soon as I hear one.

Thank you all for your persistence!"

So basically google engineer saying there is a disturbance in the force.
Maybe its time i put my innate paranoia to bed (for now at least)

new google answer

or someone with suspiciously deliberate bad grammar

"Yes That is right if you have knowledge yes But remember people are truing to get the easy way to some of the business. I rank N1 in organic for most of my keywords just the thing was now people are going more on the adwords the once that are sponsored on the top. Local business results place was getting their attention and they ware clicking on the LBR always now they use the paid results. That is my opinion i don't know how the others are affected."

nice work

Posted on 'google answers' by 'newcomer'

"Hi guys I noticed this to i have a web design and marketing Company to and i was ranked very good in the local results. They ware gone recently and i think that google is trying to pass all the local results so people can do that through google maps. It is true that all other services are still have Local results but any kind of web design, web designer are gone.Maybe this is to prevent from something but my opinion is that they want to really make sure that for this terms the results are real. " web designer and webmaster will know how to get better listing in Local Results so they remove it for people to see really what are the best sites ranked in the organic results. Who is ranked higher in Organic will get the business and also who is paying for adwords will get the business to."

That's pretty sweet, my hat is off, exposing my bald head- author

Woodpecker in da house

Kind of off topic but interesting nonetheless (well nobody's obliged to read it).
So lunch time there comes a fluttering in the chimney, clearly there was an interloper. Removed the insulation plug and a few minutes later there's a wood-pecker flying around the living room.
Bashed into the window at mach 1 and we figured he was a goner.
Dog leapt for him, but stopped an inch away from out cold bird when i yelled at him. Baby got hysterical, mailman arrived, general mayhem.
Anyway wrapped him in a sheet, took him outside where he sat on the lawn looking like he'd just gone 10 rounds with Tyson.
Wife stayed out to watch for dog-cat who lives across the street- yes he's a cat who's more like a dog. Meanwhile friend or lover of woodpecker swooped overhead watching out for their mate.
Anyway 10 minutes later off he flew. There is no moral or real point to this story other than woodpeckers are pretty tough at bashing their heads into things.

The end

What's Next For Google?

I've thought about this a lot. If I were Google how would I expand?
Well there's a lot of ways they are doing so but what would allow them to double or triple in size in a relatively short time frame?
How about web development, e-commerce development, SEO, SEM and so on?
I've posted here on their recent and still unexplained removal of all local results pertaining to these industries. From searches and growing commentary I've determined this is not only nation wide, but also an international issue.
These are the only industries being affected, if you're a butcher, a baker, or a brewer you need not be concerned.
So why hit these industries- because they can perhaps? Clear out some competition before they move into these arenas?
I'm just asking this as a talking point, I'm not privy to Google's inner sanctum. This is a theory I've come up with to try and explain these occurrences.
Of course Google cannot remove organic search results for such industries. This would undermine the very core of their algorithmn. And the integrity and beauty of the algorithmn is what's made them so incredibly successful.
I've rejected my initial idea on this- that these results were removed because of potential webmaster manipulation. After all, theoretically a good webmaster could do the same for his clients.
If anybody else has ideas on this I'd love to hear them.

Trying to get this site live: http://www.bigorangeplanet.com/koo/site4/
Some problems with the images- naming scheme conflicts. Been hammering away on it most of the weekend, not exactly whistling while i worked..
Anyway- it'll be a really cool site once the last bugs are worked out

design

they just put back in 'design' and 'graphic design' i see, wonder how things will look tomorrow,
seems they are changing the game literally as i speak

Google massive change still un-noticed

So I've been talking to a guy in CA about this a lot on Google's forum. Still no answers, seems like we're the only guys who know about this.
Which is bizarre, it affects search results for all creative and web-orientated industries throughout the country, I thought someone else might have chimed in by now.
I'm starting to feel like "the boy in the bubble".
I just tried 'software developers' and that's gone also, while 'developers' is still up

Worm that hijacks ftp

Webmasters- beware. This happened to me and to some friends in the business. There's a nasty worm out there that's working as a TCP sniffer. It can exploit a hole in Adobe Player software- Flash and Acrobat and gain entry into your FTP software on the local machine. It then steals user names and passwords which are quickly used to place malicious code on html, php and js files.
The objective is spam redirects using unknowing web sites. Of course google Chrome can spot the malware and will warn you.
The bad code is pretty easy to spot- look for stuff like ggfoislarifxzoa..iliff.ru in an iframe.
If you do find yourself infected delete your ftp client if possible, clean the websites, don't forget js files- easily overlooked, and change all passwords- make sure they are strong with caps and % etc.
Your anti-virus software won't pick up the core worm on your local machine.
Re-installing the O/S is an option, but of course a complete pain.
But always using encryption on any transfer and not leaving FTP open when not being used works pretty well

Local search results removed

Hi all.
I've just been noticing that google appears to have removed local listing results across a wide range of fields- web design/development, seo, graphic design and the like.
This was not the case as of yesterday.
Perhaps they are worried about result manipulation, not sure at this point.
If indeed this is the case they should remove the whole local listing program in its entirety in my opinion. If webmasters wanted to manipulate results they could certainly do similar for their clients.
Time will tell what's going on- putting some queries Google's way this morning
